Shiona Bramlett’s plagiarism of Paul Tomle’s Article Meerkat Manor is wrong and may be found to be amusing to most readers .Why Bramlett would even include the the passage in her novel as a ,”filler”, is stupid and irresponsible because of the how obviously out of place the plagiarism is . Also the legal problems that could occur because Bramlett was feeling lazy and probably thought that no one would find the link between her novel and Tomle’s 2005 article, if she even put that much thought into a simple copy and paste with slight rewording. This makes me think of the same thought process that may occur in highschool or college students that are looking for a quick way out to long essay or writing assignment. A simple way out of this plagiarism is simply citing your sources or being original and not take words directly from the text. I also can tell this assignment is somewhat of a warning to our college class to begin the year. The only good that could come of the plagiarism and the response article Move over ’Meerkat Manor’ is the attention it has gained to possibly spread awareness for endangered black footed ferrets.

Smart idea to think that this is a warning to us about plagiarism for the beginning of the year. I thought it was crazy that he would just get an idea to steal someones work. I agree he probably thought that no one would find it or find out about it. This is story to me was a scary thought because it means people could do it and sometimes you may not even know about it. The good news is that recently people and teachers do more to try and stop it. But still sometimes people may do it and the author may not even know if people are really sneaky about it. I thought he handled it pretty well because at first he laughed about it. As soon as I found out I would have been really mad and wouldn’t have known what to do. Most teachers now days to make people cite their work so that they know a student didn’t try to plagiarize. If I worked really hard on a piece of writing I would not want another student thinking it is okay to steal it. I think this helps spread awareness in general just about plagiarism.
