How could anyone ever tell this woman that she does not write well? The fluency of this piece alone was incredible. It was really easy to read through. I very much enjoyed the passage. Not only because of the nice flow to it, but the content itself was quite thoughtful.
To further, I agree, the way you were raised speaking, compared to how you speak with peers, can range dramatically. It can vary depending on what friends I speak with, though I don't usually notice the differences until I happening to be talking to two or more people at once. Like with some people, I can easily joke around with a bunch and/or make lots of references to certain things, but if I was to talk the same with a friend I don't know as well, well, I doubt it would be possible for me to talk the same. Or for example, how many people tend to “insult” people they are closer to, since only with that closeness can seemingly rude remarks become endearing. Even with how people are generally more apt to talk vaguely, than to be precise and formal when dealing with people who know them well. It really is interesting how people will talk depending on who the person and what the situation is.
